2012 is upon us, and the icebergs are melting in Greenland:
My 2011 resolution to blog each day of the year ... is complete. I know have a written record of what was going on then. To this next year, I will hope to have good memories. As the picture is to illustrate - there are many beautiful places in an ever changing world for us to visit, and I plan to enjoy my life, one day at a time.
This year's wrapped up as life often does - with unexpected gifts of delight =D , hopefully waiting O_O , and downright teeth clenching with determination to be better the next time >_< .
I woke up this morning with an ache in my upper back, either from sitting on the floor too often, bad posture, over-exersion, or something ... having jumped out of a bad dream I was having - I was sleeping on some couch in a bland non-descript room, when in come Keisuke Ohashi and Sab Shimono (the two actors playing the Honda executives in Mad Men), and a whole crew of people busily bustling about getting ready to shoot a new Mad Men episode - then a PA (oddly played by Evan Peters (who plays Tate on American Horror Story)) sees me and loses it - I'm not supposed to be here - who the fuck brought HIM here?! I smile and calm him down, and rationally explain that I was just sleeping here and everybody came in ... annnnnd ... wake up time. O_o
About 2/3rds of the way through Rage, and am quite enjoying it - it seems somewhat like playing a shooter with some functions from the Oblivion side of things. Pretty cool Mad Max type stuff. =)
Two more days until the end of 2011. Tomorrow am (supposed) to be grabbing lunch with fellow actor J, and should gear up to end off this year financially. Today, hit the gym and ate food. Exciting!
It IS sad that Henry's Tacos ... a 50 year old fixture of Los Angeles, has lost its lease and will now be closing. But at around $3 per taco ... was it worth having around? I think so. I'd hate for Taco Bell to show up here. >.> And I like Taco Bell.
Had the one taco and chili for dinner before our End of Year ASA meeting last night (at a whopping $5.60 for that) ... and it was good getting together and talking about acting goals again. Looking forward to more in 2012.
Then went home and started applying for a visa. What a pain.
Not so stylin' was today as I lost my parking ticket and had to pay the max fee. Did get a validation, but was an $8 mistake. Well, was just like if I had paid for two for lunch, if I try to rationalize it. =/
Still installing programs ... wonder if I should have just sold the desktop full stop before doing all this - going to have to do this all again on my replacement laptop ... but guess it's good exercise. I guess...
ASA end of year meeting tonight. Fitting way to list all the things that have and haven't happened this year. Series regular...
Ahh, today was crowded. Got my desktop back and ... pretty much spent the whole day installing programs. But all was not un-merry ... as while waiting I also ... played Rage! =D
And my fellow scene study actor Breeana has invited me to dinner! And afterwards I got to watch A Christmas Story for the first time ... what a lovely time!
Woke up and called Chloe, and it seemed she was busy with her family, but glad she's doing well. Grabbed a much-needed lunch with Dylan and Baldeep to catch up, while eating AYCE Korean BBQ, and then headed down to eat dinner only a couple hours later. Still, was great fun, and quite a nice feeling to hang out with other people again.
Now I have Matt's PS3 present and a UK cookbook from my love to take a look at. Happy Christmas!
It's a Marc New York "Spencer" jacket with shearling by Andrew Marc. And it claims retail price is $650. I ended up getting it for around $250 from Loehmann's, but am a bit miffed by my getting upsold. =/
So I went in again, and after the surprise of seeing the jacket back on the rack, I was afraid I'd lose the sucker if I waited until midnight for the 35% discount (which would have made the jacket $190 + tax). It was listed at $300, and so at the checkout lane, when I was asked if I wanted to spend $25 to become a 'gold' member (which would give me 10% off at this time plus any other time I shopped there), I didn't hesitate - I would be getting the jacket for 35% off, but having had to pay $25. My quick math told me that would mean I was basically getting the jacket for 25% off + five dollars, right?
Wrong! The 10% discount was added first, making the jacket $270 - THEN an additional 25% was taken off, making the jacket $202.50. Plus $25 for the...
Grabbed Koo Koo Roo for a late lunch, and on a whim walked by the store to see if any new jackets were available - and the one I wanted was back! And we're in the 25% sale time! Put it on hold, and am debating whether to wait until midnight until the sale turns to 35% (the jacket can only be held for two hours ... so it's a gamble)
