Biography

Akie Kotabe was born in Lansing Michigan on July 18th, 1980. Growing up with a father having a doctorate in marketing and a mother with a masters in child psychology, academics were a priority during childhood.

Akie moved to Columbia, Missouri until he was 10, and then Austin, Texas until graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, with a six-month stint in Sao Paulo, Brazil. His father's professorial commitments involved frequent travel, so Akie spent his growing years staying for brief periods in various places, from spending a summer travelling Europe, to annual summer visits to family in Japan.

During college, the acting bug struck, and his first TV appearance was on the Jamie Kennedy Experiment, playing a college guy helping set up a prank in the episode.

Upon graduating, he moved to Tokyo to further pursue his interests. After starting to work more there, he made the move to Los Angeles.
